Martin Conley is Featured Artist for June at Summa !!
Martin Conley, well-known local artist began his painting career in the 70s while attending college in southern California. After college, life and earning a living took precedence and that put painting on the back burner, but in the 90s he picked it up again and continues today.
Conley is better known for his wood carving however this show will display his painting talent. You can see his artwork for the month of June beginning with the opening reception held on First Tuesday, June 2 at Summa RE, 231 E. Main St., Hillsboro, 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be hors d'oeuvres and wine as well as musical entertainment performed by Mike Jeffery.
Conley's current painting style has evolved into a minimal design in which he uses color and line to create the illusion of movement and depth. He has also played with going beyond the boundaries of the canvas so the design can become part of the greater space and not be confined to the limits of the picture frame.
Entertaining at the reception on First Tuesday is Mike Jeffery, local singer/songwriter who sings many John Denver songs as well as folk songs and some oldies.
